My favorite quote

My favorite quote from the play Hamlet is "This above all: to thine you own self be true". This means to be true to your self and do not pretend to be someone you are not. I think this quote is a good quote for everyone to follow because if everyone followes it then there would be less mistrust in one another.

Best advice

The best advice I ever got was from one of my best friends he told me that I should just be who I want be to and forget people who dissaprove. I try to pass thatbadvice to my sister because first I feel like it is great advice and my sister is always trying to be who her friends want her to be. In my opinion they really are not even her friends. I think she should be more of a leader then a follower.

My favorite Hamlet

The version of I thought was the best was directed by Zeffirelli. He set the best mood for the story. His version doesn't follow the play exactly which I like. Also I feel like he had better actors then the other two movie versions. It didn't open as I expected it to I thought it was going to be more like the play. The other movies also had the beginning set in different places for example the Hamlet directed by Mike Almereyda was in 21st century New York.

After Torvalds discovered the letter this is what happened.

Helmer:Nora! Nora! Is everything on this letter true?

Nora:Yes,but the only reason I did it was because you were so sick.

Helmer:So you borrowed money and forged your fathers signature behind my back.

Nora:Yes,but I didn't know that it was going to be such a big deal.

Helmer: Well it is a big deal. How could you do this to me?

Nora: Torvald, we have to have a talk.
Helmer:About what?
Nora:About the way you treat me.
Torvalds:What do you mean?
Nora:Well sometimes I feel as if you treat me like a child.
Torvalds:Well in many ways you are like a child.
Nora:No, that's were your wrong.
Torvalds:Bur Nora listen I can change.
Nora:No Torvalds you listen to me for a change. I'm tired of you treating like I'm weak and helpless. I would like to be treated like Dr.Rank or like any of your other friends.
Torvalds:If I promise to change will you stay?
Nora:Yes

You can relate the characters to other characters we read about in other stories also, you can relate them to people in your own life. Like I can definitely relate Torvalds to my dad in a way like the he comes up with pet names for his wife. My dad is always calling my brother sister and I by pet names. I can also relate Nora to my mom because like Nora my mom keeps a lot of secrets.

What I liked most about English class this year is how we got to read a lot of interesting stories that always had a lesson at the end.
The play, A Dolls House, is about the sacrificial role by women at the time. For example, the nanny had to abandon her child to support herself. Also it's about how Nora, one of the main characters saved her husband and kept it a secret. She is now in trouble because the man whom she borrowed money from is threatening to tell her husband what she did.She is also in trouble because she forged her fathers signature.
